A ponder as 2010 approaches.

I am evaluating Christmas as it was this year. For the most part it was quite possibly the best one ever. Not because I received more gifts, was a little more organized, had great activities to attend, shopped till I dropped, or ate myself silly. No. It was quite simply because I was surrounded by the family and friends I love so much. I felt the depth of meaning that I believe Christmas is meant to give us. Since we are separated by distance I become giddy and quite exuberant when my family is brought together from the miles that separate us. As I observed my family, I was humbled and thankful for the blessing they are in my life. One thing I learned from this Christmas that I will strive to carry with me into the next year is to slow down, don't be afraid to sit and savor the gift of family.
It makes me think of Mary at Jesus' birth. 'But Mary treasured up these things and pondered them in her heart.' Luke 2:19 (the name and the inspiration for my blog)
